The Apartment Garden

Thursday, 30. April 2009 20:59

One fo the things that’s been keeping me busy lately is container gardening. I thought I’d share some pictures with you. If you click on the first two pictures, you’ll be taken to flickr, where you can read my notes on what’s what.

I have two windowboxes, one with leaf lettuce and one with strawberries.

I also have a collection of herbs near my balcony door.

Bella recently discovered that she likes cilantro.

Also posted to GoodReads.

Wish You Were Here Wish You Were Here by Rita Mae Brown

I enjoyed reading this, and I found the animal characters entertaining. The main character is in the middle of a divorce, however, which made the book somewhat depressing. Still, I think I’d read others in this series.

I’m Back!

Saturday, 25. April 2009 8:19

My apologies for the long absence. Two-Penny has had some interesting technical issues over the last few months, but most of them have now been resolved by the site’s wonderful administrator.

As for what I’ve been doing, I’ve been reading, working, knitting, cooking, and gardening. I’ll try to post more about these things, as well as the usual useful and useless information. There may be a bit less about what I’m reading at the moment, since I’ve started using GoodReads to keep track of my reading.

For now, I thought I’d leave you with my review of the last book I read:

Container Gardening for Dummies Portable Edition Container Gardening for Dummies Portable Edition by Bill Marken

I thought this book was okay, but not really useful for me, since I was mostly interested in edible container gardening. I also would have liked more pictures and illustrations. Still, there’s some useful information, but I suggest picking and choosing.
